Demystifying Mali from Bamako to Timbuktu World Trade Center Tacoma Goodwill Mission Debrief

A delegation recently traveled to Mali, West Africa to learn about micro-loans provided to young African women in the arts to reduce global poverty and increase arts trade with the Puget Sound. The Goodwill Mission to Mali was documented in a web journal by the World Trade Center Tacoma. Participants will describe their experiences and the outcomes of meetings with the Embassy, Mali’s First Lady Mme Toure Lobbo Traore, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, National Democratic Institute, cooperative business owners, African artisans and rural village leaders. The event will include an interactive panel, Malian art, music and original photos taken during the trip.
Goodwill Ambassadors: Linda Danforth, Patrick Hogan, Carol Schillios, Ruth Clapp, and Jamie Chase.
U.S. Congressman: Adam Smith will discuss the goal of global poverty elimination.
Opening Remarks: Dr. Patricia Spakes, Chancellor of the University of Washington, Tacoma.
